Celebration Herbals Assam Black Tea
Tasting NotesAssam is a full bodied Black Tea that brew up a burgundy-red cup with rich aromas and an uncomplicated, malty flavour. Enjoy it hot any time of the day with a little milk and sugar to bring out the tea's delicate sweetness. It is also delicious served with lemon or as iced tea for hot summer days. More...This tea is named after the region of its production: Assam, India. This part of India experiences high precipitation with hot daytime temperatures that create greenhouse-like conditions of extreme humidity and heat. This tropical climate contributes to Assam teas reknown and unique malty taste. Presently, the Assam region produces more than half of all the tea grown in India. Historically, Assam is the second largest commercial tea production region after China. Assam & China are the only regions in the world with native tea plants; Assam tea comes from a varietal of the familiar Camellia sinensis (tea bush). This Assam Black Tea is further distinguished by the way it is processed: fresh-picked tea leaves are gently rolled to beak them and left to oxidize, or "ferment." Once oxidized, they are roasted to seal in the flavours. This traditional tea is oxidized for a longer period and roasted more heavily than other, more milk varieties of tea, creating its unique malty characteristic.
